#34 Foods to help treat headaches (English)

Foods to help treat headaches

Most people experience nasty, painful headaches. Most are caused by overactivity in the brain with  chemicals, nerves or blood vessels outside the skull or tensions in the muscles of the head and neck. Conventional methods like medicine are quick and easy to use, however they are other, more natural and simple ways which are just as effective!

1. Bananas
Bananas are high in magnesium which helps to relax blood vessels and relieve head pain. They are also very high in potassium which can help to replenish electrolytes. Potassium can be helpful to athletes who train rigorously and for hangovers to not only prevent headaches, but also to prevent further fatigue and pain.

2. Spicy foods
Spicy foods such as chili, ginger or other spices can also help relive headaches. When spicy food is eaten it is perceived as pain by the senses. Signals are sent to the brain which then releases endorphins that fight the pain and can ultimately relieve the headache. Chili also contains vitamin E which can aid relief of headaches much like magnesium.

3. Spinach
Like bananas, spinach is an excellent source of magnesium. If you have hormonal headaches, it is best to get at least 450mg of magnesium a day which is easy with spinach as it gives you almost 40% of your daily needs in just one serving!
