#102 Health benefits of exercise (English)

A lack of exercise can be the root of many problems a person can encounter in their life. Regardless of age exercise leads to wellbeing and overall physical health. Here are five ways in which exercise can benefit your health and improve your quality of life:

1.      Exercise controls weight
Exercise is well known to help maintain weight and aid weight loss. This is because when a person engages in physical activity, calories are burned. The more intense the activity, the more calories are burned. This means that lengthy exercise activities are not necessarily needed, so anyone can reap the benefits of exercise within a short period of intense exercise regularly. Other simple ways in which you can be more active throughout the day without going to the gym include taking the stairs instead of the elevator and doing more intense household chores.

2.      Exercise combats diseases and health conditions
No matter your weight, being active boosts high-density lipoprotein, or “good” cholesterol and decreases unhealthy triglycerides. This helps to keep blood flowing smoothly, which decreases a person’s risk of cardiovascular diseases. Regular exercise can also decrease risks and prevent a wide range of health problems and concerns including stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression and even some types of cancer.

3.      Exercise improves mood
A workout at the gym or even a low intensity walk can help drastically improve mood. This can happen even if the amount of exercise is only small. Physical activities stimulate  various brain chemicals that leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. Exercise can also boost confidence and improve self esteem over time.

4.      Exercise boosts energy
Regular physical activity can improve muscle strength and boost a person’s endurance. This is because exercise and physical activity deliver oxygen and nutrients to the body tissues and help the cardiovascular system work more efficiently. When the heart and lungs work more efficiently, the body has more energy to go about other activities such as daily chores etc.…

5.      Exercise promotes better sleep
Ever wondered what can help if you’re struggling to fall asleep or stay asleep? Regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep. However, it is not a good option to exercise too close to bedtime, as it increases energy immediately and may be even harder to fall asleep.
